Prana and Agni

The essentials of a traditional Hatha Yoga Practice

Those who have practiced yoga asanas in a traditional Hatha Yoga tradition, like the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition, would have heard the words bandhas, fire (Agni) and Ujjayi breath. The Ashtanga Vinyasa school is just one of the many schools of Hatha Yoga, which primarily rely on the use of mudras, such as the bandhas, to channel the Prana and focus the mind, while obtaining many health benefits as a by-product. In this workshop, we will look into all these concepts in detail and experience some of the effects first hand using asanas. We will look into some of the asanas in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary series and the use of bandhas and Ujjayi breath in those asanas.  Please see the references at the bottom of this page for more information.

All levels of asana practitioners are welcome.
